The Alchemy of Words
Where poets, authors and songwriters collide. I’ve been thinking a lot about this over the last few months. Especially since I started writing again. ( I’m in no way comparing myself to anyone here- so don’t come at me.)

The last few years Taylor Swift has become a staple in my house. My daughter a self proclaimed “Swiftie” has such respect for her work and as I took more of an interest in Taylor I could see why her fans loved her. Not just for her catchy pop hits, but her lyrics tell a complete story. A personal kaileidascope of her truths, her fears, her bravery.
If you have every sat down to write, it’s not easy to paint a whole picture with just a handful of words, yet she does it. Listening to her words flow together to create a beautiful image. She brings you in her world.
Songwriters like authors and poets wield this magic. They cradle their stories in small little containers filled with mostly short lines and verses, there’s a delicate dance between the 3 forms of storytelling.
So, dear storytellers, whether you’re a troubadour strumming chords or a poet whispering sonnets, know this: your tales are the heartbeat of the universe. And as you pen your verses or strum your chords, remember that you’re part of an ancient lineage—a lineage that whispers, “Tell me a story…”
